Residents across Bruce, Grey, Dufferin, and Wellington counties are being asked to share their thoughts on early findings of the Regional Transit Study.
A short survey, available until April 14, will help determine how to better connect and move residents across the four counties.
In a recent joint media relesae, transit needs are growing across rural communities in the region. "Population growth, aging demographics, and rising costs are increasing demand for transportation options," the release said.
The Regional Transit Study aims to assess if a unified transit network and expand transit service to areas that currently have limited transportation options.
The first round of engagement revealed opportunities for further exploration such as transit corridors that connect settlements and key destinations, expanded on-demand service and integration through established transit systems in the region, as well as private sector partnerships with taxis and ride-sharing providers.
The follow-up survey is asking residents to confirm whether these priorities reflect the needs of their communities with the results informing recommendations for County councils to consider for the next report expected later this spring.
Anyone interested can find the survey online at www.surveymonkey.com/r/Round2-CommunityEngagement until April 14 or paper copies are available at four county administrative offices.
In Bruce County, you can find a printed copy at the Bruce County administrative building, 30 Park Street in Walkerton or at Bruce County Public Library branches.
