Bruce County has joined dozens of communities across the province being recognized for their efforts in making life more enjoyable and inclusive for seniors.
Things like improving accessibility, enhancing health services, fostering social inclusion and creating a vibrant, inclusive environment for seniors are all part of the criteria laid out by the Province of Ontario through their Age-Friendly Community Recognition Program in 2017.
"This is a great honour," said Bruce County Warden Luke Charbonneau. "It reflects our commitment to being a welcoming community for all ages and our dedication to planning for our residents today and in the future."
The first communities were recognized in 2018 and along with Bruce County, the 70 plus recipients in 2026 Elgin-St. Thomas, Oxford County, Halton Region, Kitchener, Greater Sudbury, and Niagara municipalities including Grimsby, Lincoln, Pelham, Port Colborne, St. Catharines, Thorold and West Lincoln.
