
Mark Davis, Arran Elderslie's first Deputy Mayor, passed away August 22, 2025 at the age of 68.

Flags are being flown at half-mast across Arran-Elderslie in recognition Mark Davis, a "devoted public servant and cherished community member," who passed away on August 22, 2025 at the age of 68.
In an August 25 media release from the Municipality, Davis was raised in Elderslie Township and dedicated his life to serving his community. Beginning as a Councillor for the former Township of Elderslie he became the first Deputy Mayor for the then newly amalgamated Arran-Elderslie in 1999. He held the position of Deputy Mayor in 2010, 2014 and 2018 terms and was elected Councillor for the Elderslie Ward in 2004 and 2006.
He served as Chair on the Local Recreation Committee the Building Committee, was past Chair of the Chesley Fire Board, and played a pivotal role in creating the Multi-Municipal Wind Turbine Working Group.
"Known for his thoughtful leadership and genuine care for residents, Mark Davis was always ready to listen and advocate for what mattered most to the people of Arran-Elderslie," read the release.
